This Wellington winery on the Western Cape, founded by Reni Hildenbrand has firmly established itself as the most prominent vineyard of this region. From a original paltry two hectares of Chenin Blanc, Hildenbrand Wines have graduated into an expansive land of vines comprising of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Semillon, Malbec and most recently, Shiraz.
Reni Hildenbrand is rightly very proud of her wines – particularly her award winning un-wooded Chardonnay, which has proven a real winner with the European market and the distinctively South African Chenin Blanc. “Chenin’s character is very South African – it’s robust, like … barefoot with a big jersey on! Open and honest, no airs and graces,” say Hildenbrand.
