A new world red wine delight Pattaya wine lovers
by John K. Lindgren
Pattaya’s chic Mantra Bar & Restaurant at Amari Pattaya, Siam Winery and Chakana Andean Wines, Argentina, recently hosted an Argentinian wine dinner. It’s 7 p.m. Welcome cocktails in the bar a Spanish Concha y Toro Casillero del Diablo Reserva Sparkling Chardonnay with canapés. The guests Pattaya and Bangkok wine aficionados and selected media. At Mantra’s grand dining room the Malbec dinner starts with a presentation by Chakana Andean Wines export manager, Francisco Garcia Burgos.
First dish: Lamb tenderloin and baby spinach salad, goat’s cheese, butternut pumpkin and homemade semi-dried tomatoes paired with Chakana Malbec 2012. In the glass dark crimson, full-bodied new world wine. On the palate: fruit, plums and red berries, with a touch of chocolate.
Our second wine: Chakana Estate Malbec 2012 and spicy seafood and tomato broth grilled chorizo sausage and cream cheese. A Latino fusion on the plate and in wine glass Chorizo and and Malbec. Excellente!
Main course. Go fish. Pan-fried Andaman king sea bass with parsley-parmesan crust, olive oil–balsamic soya sauce, oven-baked wild mushroom risotto in vine tomato. Washed down with good “old world” Mezzacorona Pinot Grigio Italy, 2012.
Onwards: Fine cheese assortment, fresh baguette and dried fruits. The wine: Chakana Estate Selection Malbec 2011. What a Malbec! Saturated, deep ruby-red, loaded aromas of raspberry, blackberry and blueberry. Big wine, silky and a tad sweet with a long finish.
Here the Mantra wine dinner ends on a high Malbec note.
Bravo! Mantra, Siam Winery and Chakana Andean Wines, Argentina. Gracias.
